About Staff Senate

Mission

In keeping with the mission of Loyola Marymount University, the Staff Senate exists to promote the professional and personal development of staff members, serve in an advisory capacity to the university leadership in the development, review, and dissemination of university policies, and to provide a forum for open communication and ongoing dialogue among the entire university community.

Purpose

Staff Senate represents all Loyola Marymount University staff (including Loyola Law School in partnership with LLS Staff Senate) and their interests to university administration. Staff Senate shall be a fact-finding, deliberative, and consultative body, with authority to make studies and recommendations on all matters which have significant bearing on the work environment and/or well-being of the staff.

Function

Staff Senate initiates, recommends, reviews, advises, and publicizes policies, procedures, and activities of concern to all staff members of the university. In addition, it reports on all policies, procedures, and activities to the President of the University or their executive liaison through the Staff Senate President or other person(s) as designated by the senate.
