Welcome to the Bluff, President Snyder
Loyola Marymount University faculty, staff, students and alumni welcomed LMU’s 16th president, Timothy Law Snyder, Ph.D., to the bluff on October 6 with a spectacular inauguration ceremony built around the theme of global imagination. In his address to a standing room-only crowd in Gersten Pavilion, President Snyder emphasized his dedication to Jesuit and Marymount traditions and presented a vision for LMU that includes not only a strong and continued presence in the Los Angeles community, but a strengthening of our image as a prominent Catholic university both nationally and globally. Underscoring this theme was a series of beautifully crafted musical performances from LMU’s World Music Program, Gospel Choir, and accomplished CFA faculty as well as video of faculty, staff, students, alumni and parents relaying their own imagined futures for LMU.
Also present on Tuesday were Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and past LMU presidents David Burcham and Fr. Robert Lawton.
President Snyder began his tenure with the university on June 1 of this year and comes to campus with more than 20 years of teaching and administrative experience at Jesuit institutions of higher education, most recently serving as vice president for academic affairs at Loyola University Maryland.
